About the Beacon
I chose a beacon as a symbol for my company for several reasons.
My great grandfather was a founder of a firm called Beacon Manufacturing Company in Massachusetts. Grandfather created an innovation in making cotton blankets that made them have a surface more like wool, making them more comfortable and warm feeling. I chose the name partly in honor of him. Also, one of the core values of my songwriting and other creative work is making a contribution to the world.
In addition, a beacon shines light into the night so that captains of ships can get where they really want to go. I want to help people take the role of captain of their own lives and help to show them how to get to genuinely worthwhile destinations of their choosing.
Combining these reasons makes it a choice that resonates for me. I hope it will resonate with you as well.
